The Burlington County Board of Social Services will be closed in observance of the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, in observance of the 2009 Christmas holiday on Thursday, December 24, and Friday December 25.  On Friday January 1, 2010 we will be closed in observance of New Years Day.

What NJHelps can do:

NJHelps is a free and easy way for you to prescreen for programs that are available to help you and your family. NJHelps is private, we do not ask who you are and we do not share your information with anyone. NJHelps will tell you where to go for help and what to bring with you, after you have answered all the questions.

What NJHelps can NOT do:

NJHelps cannot guarantee that you qualify for these programs. You must still apply for help by contacting and filling out the required forms for each program.

Christmas Tree Safety

 

 

 


 

 

 

 

Cut 1 inch off the trunk to help absorb water.


Leave the tree outside until ready to decorate.


The stand should hold at least 1 gal . of water.

 


A 6’ tree will use 1 gallon of water every two days.

 


Mix a commercial preservative with the water.


Check the water level every day. 

 

Secure the tree with wire to keep it from tipping. 

 

 Keep tree away from floor heaters, fire places, or other heat sources. 

 

 Use only UL-listed lights,  and no more than 3 strands linked together. 

 

 Use miniature lights which have cool-burning bulbs.  

 

Turn off the Christmas lights when you sleep, or if you leave your home for very long.  

 

Never use candles, even on artificial trees.


Clean the tree stand to improve the tree’s water
intake, 

 

use on capful of bleach to a cup of water. 

 

Dispose of the tree properly and see if your town may have directions for tree pick up.

Business Hours!

 Burlington County Board of Social Services hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from  8:00 a.m.  until 5:30 p.m.   On Tuesday and  Thursday evenings  until 6:30 p.m.

 

 

After Hours Drop-Off Box

The Burlington County Board of Social Services has installed an after-hours drop off box for the convenience of our customers who cannot get to our office during our regular business hours. The box is located at the entrance to the Burlington County Board of Social Services Reception Area. The box is equipped with a lock to insure that no one can tamper with the papers that are dropped off. The box will be emptied on a daily basis by Burlington County Board of Social Services personnel.

In order to insure the correspondence gets to the proper worker, make sure your name, case # and phone # are clearly shown.

 

 

New Gretna Area Residents

The New Gretna Outreach Worker will now be in your area the fourth Tuesday of each month.

 

 

EPSDT

 

A HEALTHY CHILD IS A HAPPY CHILD. The EPSDT Program, through NJ Medicaid, provides free health care in the form of regular medical checkups and immunizations. Please consult the schedule below. If you need assistance making an appointment, call (609) 518-4795.

CHECKUPS: Birth to 6 weeks., 2 mos.,4 mos.,6 mos., 9 mos., 12 mos., 15 mos.,18 mos., 24 mos. Then 1 visit a year to age 21.

IMMUNIZATIONS: 2,4,6,15 & 18 mos., are recommended. Scheduled birth through 18 mos., 4-6 years, 11-12 years, 11-16 years.
